Our History
Greg
and Carol Griffin began ElderSpan Management, LLC in 1995. Greg has a 40-year
history in the healthcare industry as a strategic planner, a hospital administrator
and as a consultant to hospitals in crisis. Carol is a Registered Nurse
with an unfailing love for the elderly. When Carol's mother started to need
more assistance, Greg and Carol found there was a need for more choices
in senior living and decided to enter the industry.
In July of 1995, they opened their first assisted living residence, The Pines Assisted Living in Prairie du Sac, WI. Unfortunately, Carol’s mother passed away just weeks before, so she never got to live in the facility that had been built with her in mind. However, others were immediately attracted to the design and atmosphere of The Pines, and its success resulted in a decision to develop other residences. The company has now grown to numerous assisted living buildings, memory care buildings and senior apartments.
ElderSpan began as a family business and it remains a family business. Greg and Carol are the majority stakeholders of the corporation; their son, David, is the chief operating officer; and their son-in-law Jon oversees development, construction and maintenance. Even though the corporation now serves over 170 residents and employs over 150 staff members, every person is still considered an important part of the ElderSpan family.
