RESIDENT FAQ

Is Pine Glen a Nursing Home?

No. Pine Glen Assisted Living is a State licensed Class C, Community Based Residential Facility (CBRF). Our staff provides a safe and home-like atmosphere where the quality of life and the desire for independence is balanced with the need for assistance. Seniors living at Pine Glen are residents in their own home. Our job is to help them stay healthy in body, mind and spirit. Our licensed nurses provide up to three hours of nursing care per resident per week, and at least monthly health checks on all residents. They will also assist residents in making medical appointments and accompany them if they wish.

Is there funding available to assist people with costs?

Pine Glen was financed through the Wisconsin Housing and Economic Development Authority (WHEDA), enabling us to offer a unique affordability program. Through this program we can offer 5 of our 24 studio apartments at substantial rental discounts to income eligible seniors. Rental discounts of up to $400 per month can be realized by seniors meeting the lowest income levels. Community Options Program (COP) funding is another way counties can assist the elderly with supportive living expenses. However, most counties have a waiting list of those seeking COP funds. We will provide information to help you determine the availability of public funding, and how to approach the appropriate county agencies.

Will my rate increase in the future?

Our rate structure consists of two parts: a basic daily charge and a level of care charge. The basic daily rate typically will increase only once per year; the level of care charge may increase more than once per year (or not at all) depending upon resident health care and supportive living needs. Our licensed nursing staff will evaluate your care needs and meet with you and your family member at least every six months to discuss these needs. Depending upon the plan mutually decided on, the level of care rate may increase or decrease.

Can I be in a wheelchair?

Yes, but you must be able to help transfer yourself. Our policy is that our residents need to be able to transfer with the assistance of one staff person. If a resident needs the assistance of two persons for transferring, we can accommodate that for short periods.
